Scanning for a Cause

I spent the weekend scanning photos to raise money for the Cancer Coping Center. The experience of handling the photos that carry so many memories, was deep, as we laughed, we cried and we explored history.

The women at my table were phenomenal. We had a breast cancer survivor now in her 60's who shared her efforts to raise money. She shared the decision to show her bald head during cancer treatment at a fundraising event. It was a brave decision at the time, as she said she had not showed her baldness to anyone in her life until that day. She explained that she makes sure that her story is shared with her children and their children, as breast cancer can happen to anyone.

The Cancer Coping Center helps family members by providing a creative outlet as they are waiting for their family member undergoing cancer treatment.
